Exhibition and operation - a unique combination
In the surroundings of the historical facilities of the Nördlingen locomotive depot, where for the first time the newly designed and expanded exhibition space behind the pedestrian bridge invites visitors to a tour, the exhibits are presented in changing arrangements, and the operational locomotives are demonstrated in service. Observe the staff as they shunt the exhibits and prepare the special trains. Get up close to the locomotive crews as they oversee the pre- and post-operation of the steam locomotives and experience how the water and coal supplies are replenished with cranes. The locomotives entering and leaving the depot as well as the trains arriving and departing at the nearby station evoke the atmosphere of bygone times.
As a special experience, we offer, for an additional fee, the opportunity to obtain an honorary locomotive driver's license (minimum age 18 years): You will learn the basics of operating a steam locomotive in a personal instruction and then drive independently within the premises under expert guidance.
During one of the periodically scheduled guided tours, a knowledgeable member will provide you with interesting details about the facilities and vehicles of the association.
In addition to the numerous attractions on the museum grounds, we also offer you the opportunity to ride on our historic steam trains, which shuttle between Nördlingen and Donauwörth, as well as Nördlingen and Wassertrüdingen at the times listed below.

A ride on the historic steam train
Experience the fascination of the railway - for us, it's not just about watching! Instead, we aim to convey what travel was like in the past. That's why we're offering shuttle rides on historic steam trains between Nördlingen and Donauwörth, as well as Nördlingen and Wassertrüdingen.
Fares for the routes operated by the museum
A zone tariff is applicable. The required fare for the journey is determined by adding the zone prices from the table provided. Tickets are sold on board by the train attendants. Tickets from Deutsche Bahn (including Bayern-Ticket, Schönes-Wochenende-Ticket, etc.) are not valid on trains operated by the Bavarian Railway Museum. Bicycles are carried free of charge. As the historic carriages are not wheelchair accessible, we kindly ask for prior notification. Groups of 20 or more people receive discounts upon prior reservation (at least two days before the journey). Our General Terms and Conditions of Carriage apply (www.bayernbahn.de).
Dining in a unique ambiance
To complement the experience, we offer regional cuisine and beverages in the locomotive shed. In collaboration with Fürst Wallerstein Brewery and Hülsenbeck Butcher's Shop from Nördlingen, we offer various delicious treats, providing a complete day experience for the whole family.
Admission prices and arrival
The admission fee is €15 for adults and €7 for children (5-14 years old). We recommend arriving comfortably by historic special train (listed below) or regional train. However, if you choose to use a car, we kindly ask you to park in the parking garage at the station or at the parking lot at Deininger-Tor.
You can obtain admission bands at the museum ticket counter, as well as when booking a guest special train through your travel agent.
